It is almost spring and I am not on top of my game plan as quickly as I usually am. I have been busy dejunking and junking at the same time. Ha what does this mean? I love decorating and I love making craft projects out of random items I find at the store or in old boxes I have in the closet. I am looking forward to a great garden this year. Last year my watermelons and cucumbers did not do as well due to the weather. I am hoping this year for lots of great melons and vegetables.
I am working on an idea for a metal windmill for my living room. I love these and they are certainly trending right now. Please feel free to post your photo's of your windmills or gardens! I would love to share them! Have a beautiful day :)
Stockpiling ideas is a bad habit of mine, and yes I have over 50,000 pins and photo's. I am crazy and need to complete all of these projects to put my mind at rest lol!
I really love red plaid this year, and red flannel. I may make a 2 week blog marathon about this. :) What are your ideas for decorating this year? Theme? Last year it was burlap, I could not get enough ideas finished. But there is just something about this checkered fabric that is making me really happy these days. Lets see what we can find.
What a great year for using up some old fabric and shirts. I am in love with Red Flannel this year. I am making old shirt pillows, bows for my tree, blankets and having so much fun with this! I found an old bag of random flannel shirts that I had gotten at a yard sale a few years ago and am running for my sewing scissors to get this project started! Break our your husbands old shirts and let's have some fun! :)
This is my project I started last week. I wanted to create a large Item for Fall and Halloween that was simple and easy. I have several pumpkin heads finished and the burlap is tattered. I found some variances I am working with. Changing the way he appears should be easy. Currently waiting for my rusty wire to finish soaking then it is time to make some arms! Rustic Pumpkin Man stands almost 3 feet tall. I tried a shorted length but it just did not look the same. I am seriously considering making one that is about 5 feet tall :)
Every once in a while my blogging ideas get ahead of me and I end up with random photo's in multiple albums that were never used. Some I just don't want to get rid of, I believe this is called digital hoarding. Lol. In my efforts to organize myself a little more, I wanted to share some photo's that I have really enjoyed and now they will be in a safe place where I can look at them again later, instead of taking up so much room in my files. I hope you are all having a beautiful day.
Days have begun getting cooler and I have started to work on my porch and yard. I will miss the breezy day's of hanging out my quilt's on the line. This is the first year that all of my Mum's have come up completely before September and will be ready to bloom on time. The surprise of their color burst will be welcomed. I hope you have a nice day and that you are enjoying your fall planning.
I interrupt my Fall Season obsession to share my new home option photo's ... still house hunting ... for the perfect dream
Laundry....one of my most favorite things to do. I love the smell of fresh laundry and have l always enjoyed it. I have never had a great laundry room. For years most were in the dark basements in homes and then a few years ago, I was lucky to have one in a nice sunny upstairs room by the kitchen. Oh I loved it! After I moved again, I still had one upstairs with no window. Not as enjoyable but nice to have near the kitchen. I think it is time to do it up right. What are your ideas?
What a long road it is to go from idea to a real product to sell. I have been hee hawing around with my ideas for years and finally took the step last year to sell them. I still give more away than I sell :) I have been spending time looking at larger website's and Facebook Page's that sell craft's and wonder what they are doing to achieve 1 million sales. LOL Can I make that many wood signs or Farm Angel's? I sure would like to try. My crafting has never been about money, which is unusual, because I am one of the few crafter's that does not have a lot of resources to enjoy my hobbies. The dream is big and the goal is real. Do you have an item that you craft and would like to sell? I would be happy to share it for you. Please feel free to share my post's as well. We can do this together! Have a great day!
Super excited to rebuild my chicken house area....again .... for the 5th time
I love this chicken house. It is not even comparable to the pre built house I have and the other I made from old barn tin and a pallet. Oh how I dream of this. I am afraid though, if I had this I may want to move out into my yard and stay there. I just love it!
Oh it is time. That time of year, when you pass through holiday after holiday with exciting new ideas, finishing up spring, starting the garden and decorating for July 4th. Then it is over, and there is nothing until Fall. So I find myself on this warm July day thinking about pumpkins and mums. This is not good...lol. If I start now, building some ideas, this fall could be great! So what the heck. I am going to do it. Let's see how the fall season shall look this year :)
Oh that feel's so much better, I may be able to make it another 8 weeks before I tear my porch apart and start dragging out paprika tinted wood blocks and pumpkin decor. 2016 will be a beautiful fall season with deep appreciation after a humid summer and a stand still between crafting. I am cutting wood this weekend for this wood pumpkin ...I will share ...look below!
It is definitely the summer for stocking up at the flea markets and yard sales. Since I began making Farm Angels, I find myself in need of random rusty old pieces of junk and cannot get enough old doorknobs, keys, twine and metal. I really enjo
As I drive I sing the song that I remember from my childhood. I really did love this song and I really loved the artist as well. John Denver!
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories, gathered round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrops in my eyes
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice in the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away....... still singing :)
So I have been recently interested in driving out to the boonies all around and finding old buildings and barns. I have always love the old abandoned places and have been to quite a few. I have not really photographed them in the past but will be adding them in under a new tab at the top of the page.
Lots of great places to visit and a list of places to go!~ Have a great day!~
For the love of Teacups…and a strange fortune telling cup and saucer :) Ok first, I love this tea cup. I love the old fortune telling stories and this is from 1890 which seems to be a common year for a lot of old witchcraft items. Besides that I love collecting tea cups, and have seen so many lately. There are some craft ideas but I just can’t bring myself to drill holes in these cups. :)
I have successfully completed my first attempt at crafting with the old teacups. I am looking for some other ideas to add them to the garden. Right now the bird bath teacup is working perfectly and I am seeing many birds come to visit! If you build it ...they will come! I have put some DIY info down below also if you would like to try your own!
I love decorating and my chicken house is high on my list! I am completely obsessed with getting those curtains hung and rebuilding some nesting boxes. I made a huge mistake earlier in the year by adding a duck to my chicken yard. By doing that it has altered the ground and odor that has always been stable in my coop area. With that said, I am thinking of moving the entire area across the yard and giving the yard a chance to heal, because trust me....duck poop stinks.
I tried bedding, bags of sand, wood planks and other methods even baking soda. It has been a miserable stench of a summer :) So onward I go into finding some beauty for those poor little hens living with the stink hoping the changes will enhance their lives.
Chickens, Chickens and more chickens. I love my girls, and mama is really making the season so much fun. She has been really coming around and enjoying some lovie's. I am really thinking of trying something new with my chicken coop. I have changed it up 4 times in the last 5 years and am not sure what my goal is, or if it is just boredom, I am out of control with this lol. I originally started with a pallet and some old tin. Added some fencing, ran over the fencing with my lawn mower and switched to enclosing them with large dog kennel fence panels. This worked but did not look very nice. So I added some picket fencing and the chicks were able to get through. I decided that an enclosure would work better, then I was not happy because I could not get in and interact with them. Scratch that. Go bigger and build totally enclosed with a screen door. Worked much better but the storm collapsed it. Went with a small new house from Sams Club, and it was wonderful! It was beautiful! It lasted all of 3 months and has totally fallen apart for no reason at all, it really is cheaply made. Hmmmm. So as time goes by I have decided to do something great. I will post more as I photograph it and show the process. It is a secret project so please don't tell :)
I am looking forward to the days ahead when I can spend more time at my craft table. I will post some photo's of the shop table I build from old raw wood, and I really really love it! Working on some new ideas this week and stumbled across these!
I really love the old signs that spell out the words with unusual junk. I cannot wait to make a bunch of these and hang them all over the place.
I have finished covering my pots with burlap bags and I really like it! However, the bags do not fit well on some types of pots. I am kicking myself for selling all of my old coffee pots, I am going treasure hunting to find some to get this idea started. I purchased a large bag of stakes at Lowe's for only 3.95. They work great for the coffee pot planters. Have you made any unusual planters? I am happy to share your ideas, email your photo's through the contact me page :)
The spring weather is quickly turning into summer. Time to break out those Americana Decor items and hit the porch! I really enjoy this time of year and am looking for anything random to try out and make. I found an idea with some burlap bags and twine to repurpose some flower pots that I tried and it actually went well! Here are some ideas that I am working on this week :) What type of style are you going for this year?
Enjoying the beauty of this sunny day! I love spring and now as we are transitioning into summer I cannot get enough of this wonderful weather. I had an early start to gardening and jumped the gun on planting way before the last frost, so since this seems to be a habit that I keep repeating, I have totally accepted that is just who I am....lol. Plant and start over, replant and start over, must be the challenge I enjoy. So this week I find myself planting some more seeds, due to the loss of 20 tomato plants and some onions. So what is even more strange is that this post today is not even about gardening, and now I am wondering what the heck I am doing here :) I hope you enjoy your day, lets chat, stop and comment if you would like to drum up some conversation and enjoy the beauty that you are today!
Really enjoying decorating with wood accents. I am scrounging around for some old wood right now to work with and am really excited to try some of these ideas!
I am very happy to announce and share the news, that Farm Angel & Co has been accepted by 3 new retailers and is live now on Facebook. I had been working on this idea for awhile and am so excited to spend my free time designing new Primitive and "Junk" Farm Angels for your porch and home decorating.
All angels, have a theme. I started with seasons, and moved forward to forming a tribute to our servicemen, in our community and our Armed Forces. I have had a wonderful response to the Fire Angel and am launching many more in the next 30 days.
In addition to the tribute Angels, I have also designed several awareness Farm Angels, to display on your porch to visitor's and passers by. The new Autism Awareness Angel and Breast Cancer Ribbon Angel is amazing!
Thank you for visiting and for your support, I look forward to sharing more soon! Order Inquiries can be directed to the contact page above, also look for the Etsy Store links posted within the next few days. Many blessings to you all and thank you for sharing!
Patiently waiting for the end of the cold weather this season. I know it is early and I am impatient, and I really do love winter, but it is time to move forward. I have a small kitchen currently, I am hoping that I will not always have this size, but for now, it is mine and I am going to make a spring time splash of color in it. I really have thought about it a lot, the struggle is real. I want yellow, I want white with red, I want olive green. LOL Oh my. So in the midst of looking through some options I have found that my best option is yellow. I am stepping outside of my safe zone, and repainting my table with the chalk paint in the color Duck Egg Blue, with a hue of yellow trim. I am going to fashion the surroundings to match the table. How is your kitchen? Small? Big? Yellow? :) Post your photo's or links to your page. I love sharing!
Ok, I am borderline obsessed with the new idea of raised bed gardening. I made one, it turned out
ok, and tried another which did not go so well.
I like the large pallet sides on the raised beds below, I also like old barn tin siding. I will be posting my
photo's of my finished beds as I go this spring under my home page.
