I always wonder after Christmas was projects are good to start. It is not close to Easter or Spring and Summer is still so far away. What could I possibly do to fill my time? Here are some ideas I am working on. Snowmen are just great for this time of year. Most people think they combine with Christmas and holiday decorations but this is the perfect time to get them out and make some more while the snow starts flying. I just made some new signs. I am not an artist and I am not someone who actually succeeds well at all crafts. I did find out that old boards and pallet planks make for great crafting and if you have one square piece of wood it is time to make something for your wall that you have made. Try it, just get that board, and lay it on the bed or the table and paint it with a background color. I use craft paints they sell at walmart for 50 cents. After you find your perfect saying, just write it on there. Draw something around it that you love. A flower, some leaves, you know your favorite things :) Also this time of year works great for leaving up some of those lights. If they see them they can still be considered holiday so no explaining needed lol. If you love them and want to leave them up in your room or above your kitchen cabinets year round then I say do it! They are wonderful and good for your soul :) A gratitude jar is a great thing for a new year. Find you an old jar and write on a piece of paper everyday what you are grateful for. Today I am grateful for the sun shining through my window. It is that easy and at the end of the year you can open it and go through them. Have the kids keep one too or your partner. Sit around the table on New years or the holidays and read them. speaking of jars, this has nothing to do with crafting really but you can make a jar as great as you want with some old twine and a roll of burlap from any store. Start an easy savings that can lead you into greatness! $5.00 per week or payday, only fives go in and you will be surprised at how fast your jar will fill up :) more fun stuff for the new year! Make your snowman kits! Have them ready to break out for that great snowman day! I found old scarves and hats at yard sales for 10 cents. Made some felt buttons that you can press on (use a small stick to hang them by pressing it into the snowman if you have to) and whala! The last thing I intend to think of today is growing something. It is cold and I want to be outside. I need something to do, take out an old pack of seeds and get a seed going in your window or by your sink. Just plant it and watch it become the most amazing plant you will have this summer outside. I am going to try marigolds. A smelly flower but I have so many seeds and they grow fast I am interested to see how they do inside this early. use some old milk jugs or egg shells, these have old grass seed in them to come up and set on table for easter when its fully grown or even an indoor fruit tree this one is lemon!
Ok first, I love this tea cup. I love the old fortune telling stories and this is from 1890 which seems to be a common year for a lot of old witchcraft items. Besides that I love collecting tea cups, and have seen so many lately. There are some craft ideas but I just can't bring myself to drill holes in these cups. :)
