OH the joy of the holiday's getting closer. I love quick and easy craft ideas and decorating with odds and ends. The snowman below is made of tin cans and is a great craft to do with children or seniors of all ages. It was even easy for me lol! I hope you ideas are all coming together and that you are enjoying the beauty of the lights outdoors, the trees in windows and the cars driving by with their fresh cut pine trees on top. It is most definitely the most Wonderful time of the Year!
Shiplap, just the word is literally making me giggle and get excited about decorating. I have Shiplap ceilings and had never considered doing a wall in the manner, but times are a changing, I have seen a few made from pallets and I love the pallet crafts, but have really become very burnt out on them. I also do not think the pallet wood is very safe to use for most projects. It has a large amount of chemicals in the wood and dragging it in the house, just seems unhealthy. So I found some natural wood at the local store for 1.24 a plank. It is a huge plank of misc wood and am considering using this to cut some shiplap pieces and try a wall. My largest challenge is plaster. Plaster is such a difficult thing to work around. I am getting my ideas together and will post the outcome under My Home tab when finished. Have a great day!
Living for the dream of my new home. I have been unable to find a home so building one may be a better option! Just noting a few ideas here so I know where to find them when needed :) Note to self... I love the big open room in the center and large windows. The horse stable sliding doors are beautiful and the lofts on each side add for extra storage space or an office. Or maybe a beautiful room filled with my sewing table! Or guns. The possibilities are endless. :)
Oh how I love old garden gates and this spooky time of year. I have been searching for a few iron and metal gates to save for a project and they are getting very scarce. ON this creepy Halloween Day I am sharing some photo's to start your day with a chill. I hope you have a wonderful evening filled with blowing leaves and lot of trick or treater's. :)
Ready for a very random early Thursday Morning post? I have been collecting so many ideas it is time to purge and get them on here, so I can organize my thoughts for crafting this fall and winter. I have been busy getting the Fall items finished up and the Christmas Ideas are coming in fast. I hope you have a wonderful day filled with many blessings.
Project time. I love paper mache and this is about to go down. I usually spend time making animals, easter bunny heads and costumes but this year I am taking the Fall Craft Challenge and am diving into this. Watch for updates and have a great Fall Weekend!
Over here! Fall is coming! I am heading out to gather up some great Fall items for my porch and home. Corn Fields are a favorite of mine and so are old gravel roads. What a beautiful day just minutes from my home to enjoy. I hope the start of your Fall season is amazing and blessed.
Such a beautiful start to the fall season. I will be posting new photo's of my neighborhood and town soon. Watering Mum's today and working on the porch. I hope you enjoy this crisp cool day and light a fire to relax by.
I am starting to get the feel of fall. The crisp air and bright colors of the season are soon upon us. What a great morning to spend in bed, with the breeze coming in and a big vintage comfy quilt. I have made a few quilts but none are my favorite to sleep with. I purchased an 80 year quilt at an antique sale a year or so ago. Perfect condition. $5.00. I cannot get away from this quilt. Such a beautiful hand sewn soft blanket to lay around with. I have yet to find any new or modern quilts that ever compare to the beauty of these old quilts. Sharing some fall thoughts and some of my favorite things on this Beautiful September Day.
I am the sole designer of the first Annual Scarecrow Festival. I am really excited to create some new Fall decorations. My area is filled with school age children, families and tourists so the scarecrows are sure to be viewed often. I am posting some scarecrow ideas and will update as mine are completed. I am getting very excited for the Fall season this year! What ideas are you working on?
The beauty of fall is just around the corner. I am collecting my craft supplies for my new scarecrow ideas and for my porch decorating. The school near me is nearly opened and at this time, I am always excited and antsy about getting out my scarecrows and fall decor. I am trying something new this year that I will share with you next week when it is finished. It is something I have not seen before and I am really excited to try it!
I took a trip, loaded up and drove the historic highway 66 over the weekend. What a beautiful roadway. I ended up driving the largest portion of Missouri and also went into Kansas and Oklahoma. I will share some photo's of me and my Daughter Emily hitting the road. We also Visited the Precious Moments Chapel, Bass Pro Shops, Joplin, and an Indian Reservation. And more, I plan on completing the full Route 66. It was amazing and historic. Filled with ghost towns, attractions and very nice people!
Inserting random screen shot of this guy....I love this song! And had a wonderful Gypsy Trip...
On my list to get to this summer, a drive to Alabama. I want to visit Magnolia Springs and explore the area all in 2 short days...which is all I get off from work for. This area is so beautiful!
Warning, this post is filled with so many beautiful aprons, you may be tempted to start collecting them also! I really love aprons, I have finished making my kitchen apron curtains and am on my way to learning to sew them also! Inside of us, is still this girl. The one that wants to dream big
Oh my girls are so hot this week! Trying to find some great ways to keep their body temperature down is not easy. Super stubborn. My chicks do not like to stand in water. They do not like to get sprayed by the hose or run through a sprinkler. So they are hot. Panting like puppies in the yard. :) So what I have come up is this, something that actually works to keep them cool. Frozen corn with water in ice trays makes for a fun treat and lots of coolness. Let's see what I else I can find! Any ideas?
I ask myself how many updates can I possibly do regarding junk and campers. Gypsies and chickens. One thing is for sure I am consistent in my desires of life. I am enjoying the start of the summer season with clothes hung out on the line, chickens running through the fresh cut grass and my tomato plants are already as tall as I am. This is a first for me, as they usually get big, but almost 6 foot tall is crazy! I am including some photo's today of what is making my heart sing at the moment. Just stuff, you know junk and stuff. I hope you all have a beautiful day!
Lord forgive me, I am out of control with my new and improved Junking habit. I am having so much fun with this! I have pretty much decided that all of my projects are for my home and gifts, as every attempt I have made to sell them, had led to giving them away. I am fine with this, because I love spreading the love, but it does limit me to less projects due to NO fun money. So over the past month, I have finished up some signs, painted some old chairs, painted an old bench and made new slip covers for my living room furniture. I also started refinishing a large doll house. My favorite project was my large white farmhouse cabinet. I still have some work to do on this, but am really loving the look! I think I have to get started on my 4th of July Projects. I got excited with all of the Red, white and blue supplies out and am breaking out some canning jars this weekend.
A man came home from work and found his 5 children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn around garden, The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and no sign of the dog, walking in the door, he found ...an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, the throw rug was against one wall, In the front room the TV was on loudly with the cartoon channel, the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel... She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?' She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?...
''Yes," was his incredulous reply..
She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.
I absolutely love this and the life long work of a mom can never be appreciated enough ...beautiful!
I am a huge fan of building with pallets, I have to say I really love the ideas. I am not a fan of ripping the pallets apart. It is very hard to pull nails from most pallets, and even harder for me to cut the ends off to avoid pulling the nails. I found a work around, some very similar wood at Lowe's for only 1.27 per piece and it is quite long and very easy to work with. I recently built my craft table with the free wood similar to this. I will try to scrounge up a photo of my table to show this. I have found some new pallet projects to share and I hope you enjoy them! If you have your own ideas or photo's please message them I would love to share!
Putting a little junk in the trunk is the goal of the year. I love collecting old rusty, broken stuff. I think that is the difference here. It is ok not to be perfect, and by spending time on all of the DIY website's and perfect craft post's, you almost forget that we are all just who we are. Some of us collect old key's, some collect old bird cages, and well.... some of us collect everything and hope that someday we will find something great to do with it, so we will be just as cool as everyone else. So any who, we are going to be great. Find something to make, post an idea, head to a yard sale, and dig through some trash. It is all good!
Stumbling across some small but great things this week and wanted to share, some of my new Favorite Things. I hope you had a nice week and that your weekend is beautiful!
I really enjoy the beauty of all lights, and Christmas lights are my favorite. For the past few years I kept white lights on my tree and this year I tried to step outside of my safe place with this and be a little more colorful. Blending traditional lights with the new led lights were a bit of a challenge. The glow seems to be much different. What type of lights have you chosen this year? Please share!
